Found at roomie's desk, and the first thing I could think of was:

...of course it isn't. She's not even a chemistry student! If yes, why should she has it in her desk nway?

Isn't NaCl plate round? That thing looks polygonal :p
by default it is, but i think it can be shaped? it only needs the center part to be covered with the sample, though.
