Appeal granted <3
I got what I wanted!!
Thanks a lot for a friend who was willing to swap an index with me (now I pray that this swapping is mutual and a win-win situation for both of us),
and the profs/lecturers and CBC officers who kindly granted my appeal! ohooooo. Thank youuuuu!!
I think I should start being nicer to lecturers, especially those two. =D
And I am praying that another two modules will be successfully added. yeay.

Home.
So for those Christian foreign students who had to sit for paper(s) until the last day of exam period like me, we needed to choose whether we were going to stay around for Christmas or rush back to celebrate Christmas at home on Dec 23rd evening or 24th morning.
I chose 24th morning. So I am boarding in several hours.
Merry Christmas, happy holidays =)

7 papers were not the problem. Myself is.
I had 7 papers this sem, they are a LOT, but since 1 module is put under S/U option and another 1 is lab which, more or less, you can't study a lot and wait and see it happened, so, it is roughly the same as usual =)
So.. let's start.
CBC922 - Medicinal Chemistry
Roughly a simple module, or 3rd biochem module according to my friend. My biochem record is not good at all, but thank God I could get through this. The paper was considerably, relatively more difficult than the past years' ones.
CBC314 - Physical and Biophysical Chemistry 2
A LOT of questions, and a WAAAAYYYY LOT harder than past year papers! My friend who sat behind me showed a bad sign after the invigilator collected our answer booklets, and I couldn't help but agreed with her. Moreover, we are, more or less, at the same level, and she was worried until days after this paper. Made me worried as well.
CBC316 - Chemistry and Biological Chemistry Laboratory 4
Somehow I believe that the questions are being recycled each year! Lab written exams were never easy for most students, especially because the TAs only explained things that were necessary for experimental procedure and data processing. In the paper they asked technical questions (who had expected?????). INCONSISTENCY!!!!! Oh.My.God.
CBC932 - Polymer Chemistry
The paper itself was relatively easy, only a few "trap" questions. I only hope I am helped by the bell curve, though.
HP806 - Psychology of Crisis Stress Management
I am very glad that I S/U it. The module was quite interesting, but the exam paper was quite deadly.
CBC311 - Chemical Spectroscopy and Applications
Overall remark is the same as polymer. The first lecturer, who gave a HARD mid-term quiz, put easy questions, but the second lecturer who had an easy mid-term quiz gave one "trap" but easy question and one super long, tiring question. Yaaa, so, bell curve, save me please!
CBC934 - Heterocyclic Chemistry
The initial shock was interesting. And I wondered why I put nearly the same answers with those students who S/U this module? *faints* I still do strongly hope that I will pass this module with a good remark.
It was not a good exam period, right? Yes. It was tough.
But it was not as most NTU-ers tought. The problem was not the number of papers (this is NTU! Chemistry and Biological Chemistry division, to be exact. You will end up with 5-6 papers normally). The problem was MYSELF. With procrastination. Yessssssss. Maybe the same thing was also my pitfall last sem, apart of being insecure, having lack of confident in myself and ending up listen to and follow people's opinion out there, tired of all the
I need more Rachel Berry good qualities.
However, it seems that not only me who realized something was wrong about some students in our cohort.. So if that person reads this, just be confident in yourself, gal. You have much more incomparable, good qualities as well =) Just do your best and don't think about anything else, I believe you will make a good chemist, a good scientist, or a good person in whatever form you may be (musician, perhaps?), one day.
Looking forward to treasure the long journey of research with you =)
Hey! Who, among undergrads in CBC, have ever gotten 4 papers, as first author, accepted at top, high-impact journals from 10 weeks of work, anyway?

Bell Curve God
U noe, fb got a new trend, people r praying to e bell curve god. Haahahx..
OH MY GOD.
I can't help but laugh so hard.
Thanks dear for introducing me to a new term which made my day.
Anyway, can we have the TAs explaining about theories that do not direcly related to data processing and are not in lab manual? Please? Because we didn't even think, nor expect, that they would appear in the examination paper.
*no use, no more lab exams, haix*

I had never seen this scene, I think.
pic cr: tumblr
Watching Rachel Berry is like watching myself on TV. I must admit that we're much alike, apart of her being a prodigy in singing and me currently pursuing something really different (plus I have mom and not gay dads, sorry Rachel). Let's see. The similar way to annoy people, the same way of being misunderstood, the same way of being full of ambition, the same way of exaggerating things, the same feeling of insecurity, the same pride.. However, she's much more hardworking than me, and I guess she does not procrastinate. ='(
Anyway, even though there's quite a probability that I'll end up doing PhD after undergrad, I strongly don't believe on the power of procrastination. Nah nah, I don't want to procrastinate, and I don't intend to procrastinate (but I don't intend to overwork as well, hey, I need to go out and get a life!). I love PhD comics, tho =D
One side of me gives a strong disagreement everytime people say that Rachel Berry is a bad person, and I should not admire her, and blahblahblah. Hey are they real (as if Rachel Berry is real.... she's completely FICTIONAL!!!!), or are they simply images that the writers put on her? I have ever read a lot of essays defending her (and having a reverse opinion than what people think the characters are) and I strongly agree with most of them. I will elaborate this later.
Quinn Fabray (Dianna Agron, to be exact) is an example of injustice in this world in terms of looks. A good thing to work on entertainment industry anyway. Her acting is definitely not bad, no worries. Anyway, I just knew that she played a part in Burlesque! Yeah, the Golden Globe, Christina Aguilera and Cher's film. Awr! I'm looking forward to be able to watch it and see what's the role for Glee's ice queen HBIC there.. LOL.
Sorry for the sudden bombardment of Glee during the past 1 month or so. FYI, I'm not a hardcore fan of it, only a regular viewer
Why I should love writing and photoshop-ping lately.. Hix. The source of procrastinating!!!! And its gift just makes me more and more miserable.
Nguping Bench AY1011S01
First of all, I am really sorry for bragging about courses and all these. I know I have been upsetting a lot of people, be them the reader of this blog or people, seniors to be exact, in my real life. I realize that this may hurt some of you. I even owe some people apologies for reminding them of the bitter past. This semester is tough and hard, yet challenging, especially with procrastination, lazing around, headaches and stuff. I can't help myself from being stressful, but then, it was my decision to take this load and I am going to finish this battle. YEAH.
So. After having conversation with some people and considering this semester's load and other things,
there is no "nguping bench" compilation by me this semester.
For those who are still studying in benches (if there are still.. sadly), I wish you peace and pleasant moments of studying and bonding with one another. And don't forget to share the blessings that you've had to others. Praying and sending encouragement messages will be good.
And if we still have chances, we can try to save benchers from extinction.
I may not see you often, but maybe if we are fated to meet, we will =) I'll still drop by there to check whether you are doing OK. If there's no one there, it is still a good memory, though.
And at the end.. Keep revising, keep overhearing. =D
Until then..

Exams, dear!
my heart races, but I can't resist the temptation.
stubborn head.

stubborn head.

exams! exams! exams! exams! exams! exams! exams! exams! exams! exams! exams! exams!
stop browsing! stop going online! stop daydreaming! stop writing! stop blogging! stop designing! it's time for your left brain to maximise functioning.
WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH THIS LAPTOP?
Because you don't need to be kiasu to be a good student, set personal targets and work to accomplish them.
Hey! Only jealous (and indeed, kiasu) people think that! Ha!!
Rachel Berry, please come and lend me your qualities, dear. Pleasepleaseplease.
Don’t work. Avoid telling the truth. Be hated. Love someone.
------
Written by Adrian Tan, author of The Teenage Textbook (1988), was the guest-of-honour at a recent NTU convocation ceremony.
This was his speech to the graduating class of 2008.
-----
I must say thank you to the faculty and staff of the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information for inviting me to give your convocation address. It’s a wonderful honour and a privilege for me to speak here for ten minutes without fear of contradiction, defamation or retaliation. I say this as a Singaporean and more so as a husband.
My wife is a wonderful person and perfect in every way except one. She is the editor of a magazine. She corrects people for a living. She has honed her expert skills over a quarter of a century, mostly by practising at home during conversations between her and me.
On the other hand, I am a litigator. Essentially, I spend my day telling people how wrong they are. I make my living being disagreeable.
Nevertheless, there is perfect harmony in our matrimonial home. That is because when an editor and a litigator have an argument, the one who triumphs is always the wife.
And so I want to start by giving one piece of advice to the men: when you’ve already won her heart, you don’t need to win every argument.
Marriage is considered one milestone of life. Some of you may already be married. Some of you may never be married. Some of you will be married. Some of you will enjoy the experience so much, you will be married many, many times. Good for you.
The next big milestone in your life is today: your graduation. The end of education. You’re done learning.
You’ve probably been told the big lie that “Learning is a lifelong process” and that therefore you will continue studying and taking masters’ degrees and doctorates and professorships and so on. You know the sort of people who tell you that? Teachers. Don’t you think there is some measure of conflict of interest? They are in the business of learning, after all. Where would they be without you? They need you to be repeat customers.
The good news is that they’re wrong.
The bad news is that you don’t need further education because your entire life is over. It is gone. That may come as a shock to some of you. You’re in your teens or early twenties. People may tell you that you will live to be 70, 80, 90 years old. That is your life expectancy.
I love that term: life expectancy. We all understand the term to mean the average life span of a group of people. But I’m here to talk about a bigger idea, which is what you expect from your life.
You may be very happy to know that Singapore is currently ranked as the country with the third highest life expectancy. We are behind Andorra and Japan, and tied with San Marino. It seems quite clear why people in those countries, and ours, live so long. We share one thing in common: our football teams are all hopeless. There’s very little danger of any of our citizens having their pulses raised by watching us play in the World Cup. Spectators are more likely to be lulled into a gentle and restful nap.
Singaporeans have a life expectancy of 81.8 years. Singapore men live to an average of 79.21 years, while Singapore women live more than five years longer, probably to take into account the additional time they need to spend in the bathroom.
So here you are, in your twenties, thinking that you’ll have another 40 years to go. Four decades in which to live long and prosper.
Bad news. Read the papers. There are people dropping dead when they’re 50, 40, 30 years old. Or quite possibly just after finishing their convocation. They would be very disappointed that they didn’t meet their life expectancy.
I’m here to tell you this. Forget about your life expectancy.
After all, it’s calculated based on an average. And you never, ever want to expect being average.
Revisit those expectations. You might be looking forward to working, falling in love, marrying, raising a family. You are told that, as graduates, you should expect to find a job paying so much, where your hours are so much, where your responsibilities are so much.
That is what is expected of you. And if you live up to it, it will be an awful waste.
If you expect that, you will be limiting yourself. You will be living your life according to boundaries set by average people. I have nothing against average people. But no one should aspire to be them. And you don’t need years of education by the best minds in Singapore to prepare you to be average.
What you should prepare for is mess. Life’s a mess. You are not entitled to expect anything from it. Life is not fair. Everything does not balance out in the end. Life happens, and you have no control over it. Good and bad things happen to you day by day, hour by hour, moment by moment. Your degree is a poor armour against fate.
Don’t expect anything. Erase all life expectancies. Just live. Your life is over as of today. At this point in time, you have grown as tall as you will ever be, you are physically the fittest you will ever be in your entire life and you are probably looking the best that you will ever look. This is as good as it gets. It is all downhill from here. Or up. No one knows.
What does this mean for you? It is good that your life is over.
Since your life is over, you are free. Let me tell you the many wonderful things that you can do when you are free.
The most important is this: do not work.
Work is anything that you are compelled to do. By its very nature, it is undesirable.
Work kills. The Japanese have a term “Karoshi”, which means death from overwork. That’s the most dramatic form of how work can kill. But it can also kill you in more subtle ways. If you work, then day by day, bit by bit, your soul is chipped away, disintegrating until there’s nothing left. A rock has been ground into sand and dust.
There’s a common misconception that work is necessary. You will meet people working at miserable jobs. They tell you they are “making a living”. No, they’re not. They’re dying, frittering away their fast-extinguishing lives doing things which are, at best, meaningless and, at worst, harmful.
People will tell you that work ennobles you, that work lends you a certain dignity. Work makes you free. The slogan “Arbeit macht frei” was placed at the entrances to a number of Nazi concentration camps. Utter nonsense.
Do not waste the vast majority of your life doing something you hate so that you can spend the small remainder sliver of your life in modest comfort. You may never reach that end anyway.
Resist the temptation to get a job. Instead, play. Find something you enjoy doing. Do it. Over and over again. You will become good at it for two reasons: you like it, and you do it often. Soon, that will have value in itself.
I like arguing, and I love language. So, I became a litigator. I enjoy it and I would do it for free. If I didn’t do that, I would’ve been in some other type of work that still involved writing fiction – probably a sports journalist.
So what should you do? You will find your own niche. I don’t imagine you will need to look very hard. By this time in your life, you will have a very good idea of what you will want to do. In fact, I’ll go further and say the ideal situation would be that you will not be able to stop yourself pursuing your passions. By this time you should know what your obsessions are. If you enjoy showing off your knowledge and feeling superior, you might become a teacher.
Find that pursuit that will energise you, consume you, become an obsession. Each day, you must rise with a restless enthusiasm. If you don’t, you are working.
Most of you will end up in activities which involve communication. To those of you I have a second message: be wary of the truth. I’m not asking you to speak it, or write it, for there are times when it is dangerous or impossible to do those things. The truth has a great capacity to offend and injure, and you will find that the closer you are to someone, the more care you must take to disguise or even conceal the truth. Often, there is great virtue in being evasive, or equivocating. There is also great skill. Any child can blurt out the truth, without thought to the consequences. It takes great maturity to appreciate the value of silence.
In order to be wary of the truth, you must first know it. That requires great frankness to yourself. Never fool the person in the mirror.
I have told you that your life is over, that you should not work, and that you should avoid telling the truth. I now say this to you: be hated.
It’s not as easy as it sounds. Do you know anyone who hates you? Yet every great figure who has contributed to the human race has been hated, not just by one person, but often by a great many. That hatred is so strong it has caused those great figures to be shunned, abused, murdered and in one famous instance, nailed to a cross.
One does not have to be evil to be hated. In fact, it’s often the case that one is hated precisely because one is trying to do right by one’s own convictions. It is far too easy to be liked, one merely has to be accommodating and hold no strong convictions. Then one will gravitate towards the centre and settle into the average. That cannot be your role. There are a great many bad people in the world, and if you are not offending them, you must be bad yourself. Popularity is a sure sign that you are doing something wrong.
The other side of the coin is this: fall in love.
I didn’t say “be loved”. That requires too much compromise. If one changes one’s looks, personality and values, one can be loved by anyone.
Rather, I exhort you to love another human being. It may seem odd for me to tell you this. You may expect it to happen naturally, without deliberation. That is false. Modern society is anti-love. We’ve taken a microscope to everyone to bring out their flaws and shortcomings. It far easier to find a reason not to love someone, than otherwise. Rejection requires only one reason. Love requires complete acceptance. It is hard work – the only kind of work that I find palatable.
Loving someone has great benefits. There is admiration, learning, attraction and something which, for the want of a better word, we call happiness. In loving someone, we become inspired to better ourselves in every way. We learn the truth worthlessness of material things. We celebrate being human. Loving is good for the soul.
Loving someone is therefore very important, and it is also important to choose the right person. Despite popular culture, love doesn’t happen by chance, at first sight, across a crowded dance floor. It grows slowly, sinking roots first before branching and blossoming. It is not a silly weed, but a mighty tree that weathers every storm.
You will find, that when you have someone to love, that the face is less important than the brain, and the body is less important than the heart.
You will also find that it is no great tragedy if your love is not reciprocated. You are not doing it to be loved back. Its value is to inspire you.
Finally, you will find that there is no half-measure when it comes to loving someone. You either don’t, or you do with every cell in your body, completely and utterly, without reservation or apology. It consumes you, and you are reborn, all the better for it.
Don’t work. Avoid telling the truth. Be hated. Love someone.
Desperately want to spend another holiday at home, even though the exam period for this sem is not yet finished

Merry Christmas, my Darling exam papers
- it does not need you to be smart to be able to create magic. Brittany.. How inspiring she is today! She's hilarious
and dumb, but sweet-hearted on the other side. - Santa is real! He lives in your heart to do kindness to others, especially those who need it. Inspired by Beiste and Sue. Love Sue and Will's frenemy relationship and how Sue were moved because of New Directions again this time =) The ending scene when Sue and New Directions
broke tocame over to Will's house to accompany him who lived alone and celebrate Christmas together was nice and heart-wrenching, anyway. Like it =') although some songs for New Directions' caroling to make their beloved coach surprised would be nice rather than those expressionless looks. - it's not always how you look, it's how you act. That ugly girl who wished to be prettier Beiste told Brittany, was Beiste herself, am I right? Now that she was thankful that Santa did not grant her wishes, she was enabled to do kindness acts and inspire other people. She really had a big heart =)
- miracle... is not always real. But wishes are. Hope is, too.
Luck does exist. And hardwork is surely paid. =)
- FinnChel was not back yet this ep! =D Yossshhhhhhhhhhh~ Prediction is correct, again. Better scene today, compared to the lame breakup! I'd like them to stay this way for a while, though, for them to be mature and strong and well-behaved. Shippers, calm down and don't attack either Lea's, Cory's or Brad Falchuk's twitters again! If the rumours that they would be end-game are true, then just wait for their return to be a stronger couple they would be. See their shared looks and half-smiles at the end of the ep?
Lesson learnt: If you want to create angst, or in general, do something, it must be epic. At least, if people blame you because of the angst, you're still forgiven for the epicness. - Santittany for life!! I have not really seen them interact like before lately. This is why I support FinnChel, so that Finn does not go to Santana and ruin Santittany-Artie-Puck relationships =P
- I wish for the Evil Trinity (Quinn, Santana, Brittany) to be back in action. Not destroying New Directions, since it'll be less likely now that they are a more-or-less-dedicated part of it, maybe do something else for the school or what? =P
- love Santana's (Naya's! it's always the casts who do the performances, and the characters as the writers' puppets, if no, Rachel/Lea and Quinn/Dianna would not hold hands at Dog Days Are Over last ep) solos: God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and Valerie. Can't. stop. listening. to. them. Aaarghh.
- if I can predict some main points at some Glee episodes successfuly (for 3 last eps: Kurt moved to Dalton Academy, Finn-Santana thing revealed to Rachel, Rachel and Finn angst) can I pass PRD001 - Predicting Exam Paper Questions with As (A+s are bonus =D) in my Degree Audit? =P I think concentration does come into play here.
So.. back to exam period business =I Concentration! Yes, beside no procrastination. Still need to go to lab this afternoon, though. Ck.

Studying = Kiasu?
IMHO studying a normal thing to do, and people have different modes of study. One-night study a.k.a super procrastinate, study from the beginning, study whenever they have time, etc.. Studying, in its literal meaning, is not less important than learning. If you don't revise, what's the point of attending classes? It's a part of learning though when you are doing your responsibilities, managing your time, and balancing out your life. And afterall, I think
Why people freaked out when they see others (especially, strong competitors) study? Insecurity? Lability? Lack of confidence? Or is this the one that is called "kiasu"? So it's not the action of studying then, it's the attitude of people who wants to win but are insecure and then start excessively comparing themselves with others and, psychological actions/attacks may come into play.
Just a thought, after a night of serious, heart-to-heart talking with some friends.
So, happy revision.

Funk.
Yes I'm talking about Glee. That TV show. An entertainment after I finished all my CAs and am looking forward for the upcoming holiday and what will happen beforehand.
What happened between Finn and Santana was revealed, yes, and I'm really happy about it. At least everyone knew by now.
But the rest of the storyline were unexpected. I'll comment on each:
- Will-Emma-Carl.
I hope Mr Schue will stop victimize the glee club kids in order to get Emma's attention. - Why Quinn and Sam got the lead part.
heyheyheyhey... It was sectionals and not just some practicing (agree with what Finn said). Comparable toheterocyclic chemistryexam paper vs sudden personal bombardment in class.
Not Finn and Rachel as leads was completely fine to me, but replacing them with Sam and Quinn.. hmmmm. If I had someone to blame, it was definitely Mr. Schue (and the writers, definitely). For the nth time, I believe he did that ONLY to impress Emma or follow what Emma had said. Right?! Tying is not as satisfying as winning, you know what, and by choosing Sam and Quinn, it was not competitive at all. They are the weakest singer in Glee club! Talent is talent, but before throwing them to competition, polish it first!!! Well, I'm disappointed. - The sectionals result
The result itself was lame!!!!! How can it be like that? It's like pushing the storyline, to satisfy the Glee should-be storyline while giving a favorable side to Kurt and the Warblers at once. How can? how can? how can? One with weak leads, and one with weak coreography. Make up your mind, pls! Not cool. - What happened at the backstage
They were all outcasts once. And see how Mercedes and Tina treated Rachel? Santana was being mean as always (I'm not sure what was her problem with Rachel, actually? She was insecure, she was popular, but I don't think Rachel had something to do with it.. Their lives didn't seem to intersect at all except the Finn truth), but yes, everyone in Glee club definitely did not deserve Rachel's label of "friend". Including Finn, definitely. I started to see Rachel as the victim of image and character development... - And especially, what Rachel did. and what Finn did.
And Finn.. My God. I think the whole conversation were at the super wrong situation. Rachel was upset about not getting the solo but instead Santana got it, then the truth about Finn-Santana came out. Mr Schue blamed her for whatever she did, and the whole fight at the backstage/green room at Sectionals. He even had a fling in a hallway with Santana! At the end, Rachel's "cheat" came out. The situation was tense and he was sort of being cheated on with 1 same guy. But had he ever wondered if Rachel saw him flirting with Santana at the hallway, and then, she met Puck afterwards and the rest just happened? Hey! You did that when the situation was still very tense and it was Santana, Santana, and Santana. Remember? It's like having an exam/mid-term paper discussion directly (within 36 hours) after you screwed it up. Wrong-wrong situation, timing and condition. Been there, and it IS definitely really painful. So don't you just accuse here and there and be childish. Grow up, guys!! (Golden rule: don't treat people the way you don't want other people treat you with).
What were both of you thinking? Aaaarghhhhhhhhhhhh.
I'll have some nice nap to forget about all of those crap and get myself prepared for the battling weeks ahead (plus I screwed up most of the time in the past weeks..). And hoping that FinChel will be back at the next episode (last ep before winter hiatus) cos I don't think Puck is worthy of either Rachel or Quinn.. For this moment, as he hasn't matured at all. FinChel haven't, neither, but I think by having this 2nd break-up, and if the writer is still faithful to what he said before that FinChel is not going to break up this season, I hope they will grow up somehow. Sheesh. Teenagers time.
Aniwai, dear Glee writers, nice hint of Puckelberry last week! And to add that Finn was the one who said that =P
Oh is the Warbler's bird the hint for next week? A bird who is changing her feather, and will be all healthy and "sing again" in no time? *crossing finger*
give us our Kurt back here!!
If next week's Glee is like this again, I hope it won't affect my revision. Please writers, give us something good and worthy (worthy to wait for) for the winter break.
(should I create new label for my photoshopped scenes and photos and comics?)
They hugged each other, except the most right ones =P

10 things happened these days
- I need to bring dust for today's teaching lab experiment. I collected one vial of dust from toilet fan because I was desperate that my and my friend's wall/ceiling fan did not collect much dust while my labmates only needed to collect dust from their own room(s). I don't know whether I must be happy or sad about it.
- My friends who had done the experiment said that they used all the dust in the vial for the experiment (apparently, we needed to take 0.1 gr of dust). I just needed a small portion because my dust were heavy enough. So..... they came from all things in the toilet....... Imagine that if you wish.
- Once my senior said that chemists are classified into synthetic and physical chemist. Analytical chemist (in broader sense: everyone that is doing/did something in analytical chemistry research lab and think/thought they are/were serious in it) is classified under physical chemist category. Wew. I still can't erase my image that physical chemists deals with quantum chemistry and thermodynamics and all that stuff. Scary and looks very hard. Luckily analytical looks more fun and applicable than that.... So I can be happy about it.
- Today is the collection day of my physical chemistry (the "quantum chemistry and thermodynamics and all that stuff" one and not analytical one) mid-term and we had to collect it personally from the prof's office. I queued nervously with my labmates. I was shaking when I went inside the prof's office. I was shaking when he asked me to sign while he was taking my mid-term. I was shaking when I recalculated the mark as he wished and said thanks. And I was still shaking when I went out of his office and returned to the teaching lab. Thanks God the marking scheme was quite lenient... And some questions that I thought was mistakenly answered turned out to be correct =P
- When my teaching lab TA said that today's session is the last lab session for this semester's lab, I wanted to scream. Next sem will be organic/synthesis lab that I (and some friends who chatted with me today) do not like, partially because of the synthetic lab TAs that earn money without doing necessary helping or teaching. They just stand there, chat with each other or text their friends/bf/gf. If we ask them anything, they may just shrug because they do not understand what we are asking if we don't speak in their language and go away (yes I'm talking about a certain nationality...) or direct us to the head laboratory officer so they can just hang out in the lab. Hey YOU ARE PAID FOR THAT!!!
- I took a nap after I went back from lab. I planned to sleep for a while cos I still have CAs to prepare. Then it was raining...... And I was hibernating instead of napping.
- The rain
wasIS quite hard and I was not able to go to the canteen to buy dinner (by now the foods must have been finished). I decided to buy instant noodle at vending machine for dinner, and I still have breads, milk and cookies if I'm still hungry. The bad thing about the vending is that it can only receive payments in coins. I only had 90 cents and I hoped that they had the 90 cents noodle (normal one; kimchi ramen is S$1.10). I saw from afar that there's no 90 cents noodle.... I prepared tostarveeat loafs of bread the whole night. But when I came closer, they had the 90 cents noodle! Yay!~ - Crazy semester: 12 CAs/quizzes for the whole semester and I'm left with 3. The closest one is on Saturday and I haven't really prepared. Exam period is coming closer and it means erasing the browsing history, especially the YouTube links.
- I got this from AOL's article on Glee - Special Education ep (Sectionals, next week), about the song that Sam and Quinn will sing at sectionals.
But, when Rachel finds out that Finn lost his virginity to Santana, she becomes emotionally distraught, giving Quinn and Sam the chance to prove that nobody puts baby (mamas) in the corner. (http://www.aolradioblog.com/2010/11/24/glee-special-education-songs-season-2-episode-9/)
It is according to prediction =D PLEASE. MAKE IT REALLY HAPPENS. I hope it won't turn out lame; or it will become more and more lame (or lamer and lamer... whatever) if they delay this scene. =P - Glee will have a break on January (the latest episode shown will be shown at December 7 and the next one will be on early February). So, I don't need to download them from Indo during the semester break in January. Thanks God, the number of series-to-download decreases by one =P I can't download either, my home internet connection is limited with certain GB of quota for usage. The Lord's help really comes at the perfect time. =D

One month to departure!
Looking forward for Christmas at home =)
As someone had told me before, it's good to be at home, so go home when you still can do it.
Currently listening to: Deck the Rooftop - Glee cast
I always like this song. It's fun.
Faster, please!
When I keyed in "Glee-Furt" (today's Glee ep) in google, all the tweets reported how sweet and adorable this episode was. And some things happened according to what I've been predicting and wishing upon watching the promo video.
I really want to watch it soon. Hopefully in 1 hour or so. Pleasepleasepleaseplease.
Mygosh. Lab report? Revision? Quiz-prep? I may be forgetting about them again after getting hyper because of this ep. Nooooo!
edited on 1pm:
Yeah that was adorable! Got the ep at around 11.30, watched it until three-quarter, then had a lunch break, then continued.
Awwwww...... A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E! and fun!
And here's some highlights.
Things that I predicted and happened:
- (The first and foremost wanted list) Santana confronted Finn about what happened between them last year, and how Finn trembled when he saw Rachel. Gotchaaaaaaaa! Total fun and anticipating for what'll happen next.
- Sue rejected her mom.
- Kurt moved to Dalton Academy before Sectionals. (this gave a biggest impact on me in this episode. I had predicted before, but when it came, I didn't feel at ease)
Things seen in promo video, but not happened according to what I had imagined:
- The coreography at "Marry You" when New Directions went in together. I thought it'd be 10 of them going in, then closed with Finn holding Rachel in his arms (that's in the promoooo). But then those two scenes appeared at different timing of the song =( Actually I had seen Finn and Rachel went in together with the other 10 people.... But it'd be more "awww"-ing to see the coreography that I had in mind, as a lovey-dovey couple they were =)
Unpredicted things:
- Mike Chang really SINGS!!!!!! I always love Tina/Jenna Ushkowitz's voice, tho.
- Quinn got a solo at a New Directions performance (preview for Regionals? Interesting.)
- Quinn got more attached to Sam (even she broke to his locker to take the promise ring). Looking back at her previous relationships, even the relatively stable one with Finn, she'd never looked like that in normal condition (the baby drama was exceptional). I noticed that somehow Sam had calmed her down.. If it was not because she matured after the drama that spanned during season 1.
- The cover version of "Marry You", for me, was really worth it for Burt who wanted a great band. He looked unsure when Kurt told him that he was going to hire New Directions to sing at the wedding with no payment (just food and fun.. yes, students, friends helping friends.. been there), but, look at how great they were! (biased: don't really like Bruno Mars, and this version is suitable for weddings and show choir IMO)
LOL-ed at:
- Brittany's continous claps when the other New Directions members had frozen and pointed to Burt and Carole.
- Priest: "We usually start with a prayer, but a certain young wedding planner, who shall remain nameless, was afraid that some attendants might fall asleep..."
Santana: *hit Brittany to wake her up*
Brittany really made my day in the midst of lab report.. Thanks gal! - Burt: "(on Kurt) ...he grabbed me by the shoulders and he pointed me towards this woman right here, and he said 'there she is, go get her'..."
Remember what was his original intention in doing this? =P
Loved the expressions and gestures:
- Both Santana's expressions upon looking at Finn and Rachel together (when Rachel came to the room where Santana and Finn were at and at the wedding when Rachel sobbed)
- When Finn was nervous after Rachel confessed that she'd never done "it" with Jesse. GOTCHA again!
- When Rachel asked Santana to leave (softer word: to excuse) the girls with boyfriends to discuss about "saving private Kurt". It's like preview to what'll happen at Rachel-Finn-Santana "tragedy" =P
Anwy, this is what was going through my mind when seeing the "seating composition" of the last scene (raw version, will edit it on holz), - Carole had Rachel handle her bouquet. Seemed like she approved her as Finn's girlfriend =)
- Rachel's when Finn said that the couples in New Directions had nicknames: "Finchel" *typical Rachel smile* and "Puckelberry" *frown-fainted-sweating-disgust*
- Quinn and Sam's small dancing at the beginning of their verses in "Marry You". Funny.
- The ribbons at Artie-Brittany-Puck-Santana verses in the same song. And the two Cheerios danced with the ribbons. I remembered my high school marching band's ribbons then.
- Mr. Shue's version of Sway and how he brought it up. And he threw the standing microphone: COOL!
- Will Schuester's proud looks upon seeing his kids performing at the wedding. I have never seen a teacher who's as inspiring, impactful and proud of his kids and make the kids proud of him like that. One of a lot of things that made me jealous of New Directions: having a teacher like Mr. Shue.
- All of Sue's! She's..... hilarious! Go Jane Lynch!
Cried/shed tears at:
So that's it for this ep.. I shall get back to my Beer-Lambert's Law, BAPNA solution and enzyme kinetics. Well I managed to fill in some data while watching =) I should keep it up and start firmly saying no to procrastination.
Next stop: REGIONALS! (and exam period *cry*)
Current track: Marry You - Glee cast version
I hope this is not an Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
So I really want to revamp this blog. But I don't know how, and most importantly, where to start. And when.
Maybe I can do it during December holiday.. But internet connection in Indo flaws (admit it!) and I have to build my mood, put some effort and spare some time to redesign the whole thing (isn't this my intention from the past one year? YES.) I need to collect enough materials to do this (especially additional Photoshop brushes.. and some useful skill on HTML coding).
And I hate procrastinating. It's my biggest enemy, biggest temptation which hinders me the most in achieving all that I want, including to do my hobbies. Look at how many things on the right bar that I highlighted and what are they? Mostly they are one-time accomplishments and not those that need endurance and continuity.
Sheeshhhhhh. My holiday plans (and most of my daily plans) has never worked perfectly. I must plan a new one and try my best to accomplish each point in the plan with no procrastination on YouTube, windows live messenger, movies and series inside my external HD. I need to be more productive and efficient.. and the way to do it is without procrastination. Where has my perfectionist side gone?? ='(
And I need to normalize my biological clock, even during holidays. No snoozing of alarms, and no stay-ups until late. I must start from this point of time. It's 1 am now, and to have a normal sleeping hours, I need to sleep immediately.

Bonjour!
Recently the promotion of AirAsia is going to Paris with discounted price.
Yes, Paris. I just checked the fee for the upcoming summer holiday and it costs around SGD 750 for a return ticket... From KL, though. But still cheap, right? That price is similar with one-way Air France ticket (Singapore-Paris), so AirAsia's is approximately half of the fare to fly with Air France. Price is directly proportional to facilities, though =P
However, I think the entry visa may take some time and be quite costly. And it needs effort. Then I must pay for the connecting flight from Singapore to KL (or bus.. but plane is faster and more convenient if you're not into taking photos and all that stuffs).
But... It's Paris! With one ticket, during the travelling period I can also go to its neighboring countries rather easily. Efficient, isn't it? =D
My (wanted) western and central Europe tour: France, UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Rep., Germany!!
Oh how I really want that!
If only I can speak French. I heard people there do not treat tourists who can't speak French well. =(
Why don't they have promotion for flight to Germany instead? At least they are more friendly towards English-speaking tourist.. And my German is not that bad =P
*begging Lufthansa to have that kind of promotion*

Ababil
During the past few months I've seen some people using it. And I think it's a term in Bahasa, and even Indonesian teenagers studying abroad are using that term. So it may be pretty popular, isn't it...?
But I don't know what it means. But I'm shy to ask people cos it will reveal that I am... Too anti-social? =P (in other words, can't understand her mother tongue properly)
Eventually, I asked my roommate and she also didn't know what this is. This is the effect when two people who does not communicate intensively in Bahasa Indonesia try to understand a slang in Bahasa. (just guess what has happened to us)
So, like e-mails to profs...
Please enlighten me on this! =D

aw!
Apparently next episode is reportedly including:
- Sue's Nazi-hunter mom
- Kurt's relationship and a wedding (from the promo)
- Rachel and Finn take a "big step" at their relationship (plus I heard that they are NOT breaking up this season). So so so so so so so? Rachel-Finn-Santana? =P
Aniway I just found a pic of Rachel Berry drinking starbucks while holding a lunch package a-la NTU "tapao" styrofoams. I blurted immediately. It was epic.
LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL.
In case you're not familiar.. Tapao (I'm not sure about the spelling, though) : having a "take-away" food package.
Later if I'm free (exam period is near!!!) I'll post the pic. Lea Michele bringing NTU "tapao" box = a delightment from late night spectroscopy =P

o.O
Hershlag, Natalie; Ian Hurley and Jonathan Woodward (October 1998)."A Simple Method To Demonstrate the Enzymatic Production of Hydrogen from Sugar". Journal of Chemical Education. 75 (10): 1270.
Figure it out?
Well if no... I will copy what is written in wikipedia:
As a student, Portman co-authored two research papers that were published in professional scientific journals. Her 1998 high school paper, "A Simple Method To Demonstrate the Enzymatic Production of Hydrogen from Sugar," was entered in the Intel Science Talent Search. In 2002, she contributed to a study on memory called "Frontal Lobe Activation During Object Permanence" during her psychology studies at Harvard.
Get some clue?
That journal paper was first-authored by Natalie Hershlag, whose professional name is Natalie Portman.
This young woman.
This super talented, beautiful, Harvard-graduate, Jewish actress who filled my childhood days with Star Wars prequel trilogy (if you understand Bahasa Indonesia, you can browse my earlier posts if you want) and all those good movies..
She published a journal paper at J. Chem. Ed., a journal cited the most in my teaching lab manual, as a first author when she was still in high school. That time I did not even think that I would pass NTU entrance exam. And I just had a similar chance in my 2nd year in uni.
She published a chemistry paper in a journal and later studied psychology. In Harvard University.
She is smart, both academically (HARVARD!!!!) and *erm, what should I call this? entertainment-ly? socially? don't think any of those words fit my description..*. She is beautiful. She is an actress. She acted in good movies. She is hard working. She is another talented Jewish artist, like Barbra Streisand and Lea Michele. She is an only child, same as me.
Similar situation. Very different fate.
THIS WORLD'S UNFAIR!!!!!!
And when can I be like her?
pics cr: wikipedia.
night sky
But, again, shame on my old compact digicam, the picture was not so good (noises, blurry image, etc etc). One of its weakness is on night shooting.
If the result were good I might had used this for my paper cover's suggestion. Too bad this just made me crave more for a semi-pro =( It is quite worthy though, my dad's super powerful compact is almost as expensive as that brand's semi-pro.. So why don't invest a biiiiiit more to get a much better one? *asking my dad*
And uploading photos to blogger took forever.
Aniwai, enjoy the night! =D

Paper Accepted!
This is ultimately beyond what I am only able to dream and wish.
Thanks Chem. - Eur. J., prof and my co-author. THANKS GOD! A big awe for this opportunity and blessing He'd given me.
Really happy now.
And furthermore my paper is invited as VIP paper and they are asking us whether we are going to submit our cover page (frontispieces). I really want to do design or submit my photograph.. But I haven't found any good object or any ideas for the design. I still have a lot of quizzes, practice for upcoming service at fellowship, and some ECA works to do.
But I really want to do my own design!! This is a good opportunity to have my side-work, right-brain-long-awaited-activation project published. Journals are a good place to publish, though, since it'll be hard for me to participate in an exhibition. LOL. Beside that I don't have time and my design is not good enough, I'm also afraid that my design is too pop-art. Well, I'm still young and I can't design "scientifically" (define by yourself what I meant =P), so I wonder whether chemistry journals accepts things like that. Let's see whether I manage to make it, though.
I'm still in high mood (and also sleepy because of morning Prayer Meeting this morning). But let me go back to polymer and physical chemistry. Plus that spectroscopy that may not be so much applicable for my current research (I want a microscopy module....). Student responsibility awaits =P

No time to rest on the laurels
As my old mentor said, you are as good as your last paper. So there is no time to sleep on the laurels :-).
My sequence of
On the other hand, I need to work harder. CAs were not as good as I expect them to be, so I need to push myself harder to keep my grades up (must be the main aim right now!! Sometimes, perfect understanding does not correlate with good results, not like in high school back then) and hopefully, if, just IF, I get to go for PhD later, I will get a good scholarship, or simply to get a good job later on. No Glee, no The Mentalist, no YouTube (IMB has finally over, anyway, so no need to catch up on anything!), no random browsings, no brushes and hues, and no daydreaming, please?
I have no time to rest on the laurels, cos I'm as good and shiny as the stars constellation above =D

A visit to lab, before recess week
me: ok... so crowded.
prof: yes. but the exchange students will be gone after Christmas.. so next year there will be less people.. if you're doing fyp...
me: hahaa. ok.
prof: anyway the exchange students have some papers submitted already.
me: really?
prof: yes. and since English is their first language, i asked them to write by themselves.. so i only need to check what is written there.
me: woah, nice.
prof: next year it will be your task to write on your own.
me: ..............
How popular is Glee in Indonesia?
That question popped up because I noticed that in the video below, there is the Glee version of "Defying Gravity". FYI it was shown when Rachel and Kurt were having a "diva-off competition" to get the solo for this song. It happened like "Hmm? It's Defying Gravity. Is it Rachel singing? I think so..... Is this the Glee one? WELL YEAH THIS IS KURT'S VOICE!!! This is certainly the Glee version!!!!!", all by heart.
Btw, I think it's a bit strange to have this song when Hudson told the audience about his mom, since this song was performed in Wicked when Elphaba flied (defied the gravity). Correct me if I'm wrong, though. If this were shown later (within these two weeks) maybe it'd have been more dramatic to use Kurt's version of The Beatles' "I Want to Hold your Hand".. Ok, just another "what-ifs".
At 1:45,
However,
GO HUDSON!~
Anyway, still in accordance with Glee,
I want Hudson (and Jessica) to challenge Kurt singing this song. I'm going to put Kurt's version.
Lea Michele (Rachel)'s laugh at the end was hilarious
Kurt only showed male's version (both of his "alter ego" or duet partner or whatever are males) although I had expected him to have a "female" counterpart since he dressed just like Hudson's two-faces. I want to hear Jessica also sing this, cos at Victor/Victoria, if I remember correctly, it was Victoria who sang this song. =)
Anyway my favorite act from Indonesia Mencari Bakat grand final (he should be competing there!!! Too bad he got eliminated at the big 4. Anyway, Hudson, your mom in Heaven must be proud of you):

google problem, come and go
For some time back then, the google dynamic theme was frozen. I checked on google (the search engine) and found out that people were experiencing the same problem. The tea house, beach, and other dynamic themes were freezing at one particular image.
Last Friday night they started to function normally again.
So I get to see the fox gardening, sweeping house, eating, reading and sleeping now.
I just love foxes. They are CUTEEEEEE!
But there is one new problem. A big problem for me, I'm not sure how is it affecting other people..
Lately the photo uploading process to blogger takes quite a long time.. Sometimes it fails too. =(

Statistics
Voila! I just knew that I could see my page views, referring URLs, referring sites, etc.
It's nice to see that people (especially, friends) are really reading what you've written or posted and trying to understand your thoughts, be it from page stats or their comments online or face-to-face, personal ones. At least I know that I'm not the only one reading my own blog.
I was surprised that one of the articles I posted about a Japanese porn star had lead people to my blog from google search result. Based on statistics, there are two keywords leading to it, and both of them are coming from google.co.id!! Oh, God. My blog is not intended to be a "source" for that kind of stuffs. I am supposed to make this blog positive! (fineeeeee, let's think positively, maybe they googled it and browsed until page 20++ and suddenly they found that article) People nowadays.....
And the most sites referring to my blog is google.co.id. It was kinda... "what???", but nevermind.. It supposedly directed them to my old posts, I think, since now I post mostly in English..
One good thing I found is that the keyword "CBC212" had directed people to my blog. Being my favorite subject so far, this finally has any use other than personal pleasure
Love banana and ice cream~
Banana is nice. It is healthy, a simple yet satisfying cure for hungry stomach, and yet, addictive.
Banana + milo is even loveable =)
Yah, addicted to banana is better than abusing drug... Right? =)
(I just realized what's the background for the banana photo! I don't want people to be horrified upon seeing it.. So just pretend that it's an amazing thing to see, ok? It's only some organic chemistry structures. Hahaaaaa. =D)
Oh I just retrieved old pictures from my digital camera. These were taken while me and some friends were having some talk over ice creams at Breeks! Cafe, Harbourfront Centre, some time during the summer holiday. The place was super nice, the waiters were kind enough to let us stay for quite a long time, and the ice creams were undoubtly YUMMY!!!!~~~ (partially because I just
In conclusion: recommended place.
Hazy, dreamy days.
Well, there are, but they are not as significant as I think they will be.
And it is hot. As. Ever.
I need air-con. But the fee is rather expensive, and I still can withstand the temperature, so I still use my fan. It is still a little sweaty and I just need to wash my hair more often. Cheaper way, I guess.
Poorly, as soon as I switch off the air-con (no 24h air-con or I'll be flat broke), my room become hot again. Usually my room will be a bit cold for a while (I never open the window afterwards) but now... NO. It's just like the hottest season in Singapore that should happen between January-May, and it is just (or already) October!!
So maybe it's not hot. It's damp.
And one day we heard about the haze problem. That there were fire in Sumatra (Indonesia) land. That the fire came from farms. And the smoke escaped to the neighboring countries: Singapore, Malaysia...
And that was where the gloomy sky came from.
HAZE, again and again.
It is terrible. It prevents sunlight passing through, and the dust and smoke it bring are just bad for health.
According to the news, in the past 2-3 years there had been no haze around. Means that there were lesser number of farm burning at the neighbouring land.
Can you just stop those actions?? Yes maybe it's a super effective way to clean your (or anybody's) land from everything.. But can you please be considerate? The smoke can just escape everywhere and does not stay in your land forever. It will not affect you, maybe, but it does affect people around!
If you think you're happy because you've successfully sent it to Malaysia, which you think are annoying and terrible enough... Oh. You're much more annoying and terrible. Even much much more annoying than
Please, no nationalism-issue or whatever here... It's just.... environmentally unfriendly. Period.
see the skies!
However...
2 days back, when I went out of my room, I saw rays of sunlight along the hallway.
It may sound exaggerating
And what ends this even happier, it is raining now! Hopefully it will help to clear up the haze.
During the past 45 minutes a few fierce thunders roared. Maybe the sky is angry because of haze, too! Well, I guess everyone, and even everything is unhappy about the haze. Who's happy, then, if your health is on risk and your life is miserable?
Aniwaaaaiiii, this is from one of my favorite local team, mr brown show =)

Found this interesting (and must be applicable) article in msn indonesia
Ingin Ramping? Jangan Lupa Tidur Siang!
Jerman, jangan lupakan sarapan
(berbagai sumber)

I heard that this became a trending topic in Twitter today?
And one of the last scenes made me want to scream at the top of my lungs!
Aaahhh~ Finn was soooo sweet!!!!~~~
<3
and he made all girls who watched that feel like they want
or just jealous towards Rachel.
Haiz.
Aniway,
I suddenly remembered Huckelberry Finn. Huckel(Rachel)berry Finn.
Lame joke. Oh, I shouldn't consider this as joke. That was just lame.
Another lame
"Glee, glee, glee, glee, baby, baby, baby" (sung with the tune of SNSD's "Gee")
oh nevermind. I bet the New Directions would be able to sing that song better and by "selling" their voice, not their tighs, hips and bellies

If you know what this post means... =(
Last weekend.

my piano practice planned last week was not executed successfully.
If you know what I mean. LOL.

shitai!!!
http://d-a-i.com/goods/a-nation10.html
3,000 yen equals ~48 dollars.. Not bad, isn't it?! For a merchandise of something you really like.
And maybe I'm not going to use it often... instead I'll just keep it or put it inside a frame and place it on the wall! haha!~
But as the instructions are all in Japanese... So... I don't understand how to order.. And I'm not sure on how to pay as well.
I can ask my friend in Japan to order it for me.. But how can I take the t-shirt and pay her?
I want I want I want!!

A compliment
"When you meet him, you will even be able to spell H-E-L-L."
Oh, is that person that scary?
WOW.
I have cut my nails anyway, let's see whether tomorrow I get to practice piano or not. I have something to attend in the afternoon anyways..

classics
*scratching head*
I just regained my interest in classical piano although the fingering and practicing
But since I'm in 4-days school now, I think it's good to spend 2-3 hours to practice piano in the morning
My friend's mom who is also a piano teacher told my mom this:
"If your daughter is not going to be a performer in classical piano, or a teacher, she better doesn't stay at classical piano too long. She can just move to accompaniment, maybe she can play Gospels at church instead."
OK I think that's true. I also realized that ISCF is lack of keyboardist now. OK. OK.
But I don't think I have as good hearing as it is needed in accompanying. And I'm too lazy to try to figure out the chords and melody in the songs I hear. I prefer to figure out how to do heterocyclic synthesis or googling about
Furthermore,
I still need to improve my fingering and my sight-reading.
And I love music sheets.
I love playing classics (but I'll refrain myself from playing intermediate-to-advance level sheets until I have a strong 4th finger). I love playing musical songs and film scores in the ways they should be played.
So, there's still 4 days to the next weekend. I'll have my nails short by that time and start continuing my classical piano practice =)
And the big problem is, they just appointed me to be a keyboardist in ISCF. And I need to train to do some accompaniment. And I'm confused. I'm frustrated. Feels like I'm in a wrong-wrong situation (classic into accompaniment without proper training and talent). Aaarghhhh!!
A lame joke I've just invented
This involves a conversation

blissful
Apparently my hall internet connection isn't well these days. It keeps going on and off (intermittent) at night, the times where I go online. And not only me, most of my friends staying around this hall are also experiencing this. The network engineer said that the problem is coming from the security setting that is not compatible with the school internet's, especially the setting from the new computers purchased by freshmen this year. Well, most of my friends suspect that this is because the server is not good enough for those amount of data. I even heard that the main library's internet connection was disconnected a few days ago at noon. x_x
My lessons are getting tougher, especially that this semester I have a complete set of chemistry (spectroscopy, organic/heterocyclic chemistry, physical chemistry/quantum mechanics and bio/medicinal chemistry!) So I need to work harder, especially because my CGPA has been "crushed" successfully last semester! Due to project courses that I didn't like at all, and even my prof said that the acad writing course did not result well since our (his summer student) reports and abstract was not really into science. Yes, that's what happened if science student's acad writing course was taught by ppl from soc sci! We were different, and we are. Seriously.
And this is what my prof said,
"You know, if you want to write a good paper or just a good report, all you have to do is read all the good, published journal papers and after you know the style and pattern, you've already known how to write!"
(I just like this! My labmates like this! LOL.)
And I think NTU decreases the cut-off for URECA!! Well, URECA is a prestigious research program in NTU. It was only for top 10% of students in the batch in the respective major before, and for my major it was quite hard to get in to URECA since the competition is quite high (and, FYI, NTU uses distribution curve to assign the grades, therefore, it is harder to get a good grades when your major is consisting of highly intelligent students). But now they change it to YGPA > 4.5! Wew. If they had changed it earlier, I would've gotten in! However, on the other side, I'm quite thankful for this condition, because if I had I won't have any experiences working in my current professor's lab since he was just coming earlier this semester and the URECA program started at sem 1! This lab is comfortable, but now, considering that we have 8 students working there (4 PhDs + 2 post-docs + 2 exchange students) the lab is too crowded to have more people inside. LOL. Love nanoparticles.
But I also love organic chemistry on paper.
So...
Let's go back to the jumping arrows at heterocyclic chemistry!

heterocyclic
While the other modules are still going happily now
Anyway, thanks ci Mer for the prayer! =) Hope I will survive it with smile at the end of this semester! Exam on 2 days before Christmas!

Things for Giveaway
Tomorrow's school and they give only 1 day for, I'm not sure, 9000 students (hopefully it's not exaggerating?) to check-in if they want to start staying in hall before school starts?
Oh well. Seeing the hall officers downstairs, they are very stressed during the preparation for hall check-in.
And they don't give me my old room back.
But this room has better view outside! haha! A fair drawback, though.
Some of my drawers are empty, means that I have lesser stuffs now or I just arranged them nicely so now I still have some extra drawers for my friends who haven't been offered any place in hall yet to put their boxes.
But I'll be glad to give away some of my unused stuffs. I need my stuffs to be lesser and lesser.
Anyone wants?
Here's the list. Just contact me if you want. =)
1 ortho toothbrush (for those who use tooth braces)- 2 ring files
- Some note pads.
- 50 marbles (useful for CBC212 if you don't have molecular model and your 3D visualization is poor.. or if you just want to excel and score, yah, you can consider to stick the marbles using bluetacks rather than buying expensive molecular models, haha)
Entrepreneurship (MPS812) print-out book.

Rhomedal
Rhomedal Aquino is a fast-hand magician in Indonesia. He appeared in "The Master" reality show which displayed
Me, myself, admires fast-hand magicians for their skill and the fascinating set they build. Like when you were at home, bored, then you clapped your hand and suddenly a dove appeared from your hands! Cute ^^ Rather than seeing the "fakhir" type where they tried to insert nails into your tongue, or passed a thread from your left ear to your right ear from inside.. yucks.
And the plus point of Rhomedal is... that... beside he is very much talented, he is also good-looking. Hehe ^^
You can see his performance on manipulation routine here. Yes, yes, he is the one with the handsome, painted face there! <3 It's in Bahasa Indonesia btw.
cr: mappln
This afternoon I turned on my TV, and changed the channels. One of the show was a gossip show (Starlight.. or whatever), and I stopped there bcos I saw the Changi General Hospital layout. Another Indonesian in Singapore hospitals beside Mount E? Quite interesting.
Then the host appeared... And I saw the familiar face with the paintings on it...
IT'S HIM!!!
Darn. it.
How come a talented magician as he is then "only" becomes a gossip TV host?!!!
I think he could be a better performer instead. Pak Tarno (yeee, that old folk, if you know) appeared everyday on a "sahur" show performing magic, and surely he gets a lot of money alongside with performing his talent. Then Rhomedal... is only displaying his face at the show without doing something related to his skill in magic? Or he had parted his way with magic?
Oh oh Indonesia. How big your talent is, you will only be what market wants you to be. For artists (well, I believe that magic is an art! they uses tricks, not witchcrafts *except the recent news regarding Limbad*) if you are good looking enough, most probably you will end up being a soap opera actor/actress or gossip TV show. They are the main shows in Indonesian TV, beside football (Oezil to Real Madrid, I don't know whether I should be happy or sad with him) and comedy shows (OB's Saschya aka Winda is now seen to be the singer at Opera Van Java after OB ended, well, I guess she returned to her old singing now) and talent shows (btw Indonesia Mencari Bakat aka Indonesia Got Talent is quite nice!! They got an 8-year-old good dancer, a double-faced singer and a 13-year-old soprano!!!).
Glad I am doing my study in Singapore instead. At least scientists may get better chance there.
Taking his quote at the beginning of that video about a kid who did not know about his future and lacked of motivation
"I will take this small challenge, whatever the obstacles are, I will face them to achieve my dream"
So what's your challenge, Rhom? Being popular, or being a magician?
